AMERICAN WILDERNESS SCHOOL INFORMATION AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please read the following carefully.
Cost for AWLS: $900
Includes the training experience, meals, lodging, airport transfer and educational materials. (One meal is on your own during the trip to Teton/Jackson Hole.) Travel to and from Jackson WY is not included.
Per Applicant Cost, With Partial SCI Sponsorship: $350
TSA Outdoors 1st time attendees may apply for a limited number of partial sponsorships that are available from SCI Foundation. If granted this partial scholarship, your cost will be $350.
If granted a partial sponsorship, please understand that the balance will be billed to division (Central) or territory (other territories).
To apply for sponsorship:
- Print and complete the application, along with a 500-word description of your purpose for attending and how the experience will be used in your corps or appointment.
- Retain a copy for your records and mail along with completed application to:
- You will be notified via email if you are accepted as a student and whether you will receive a sponsorship.
- With your acceptance notification, you will receive a packet of additional forms and information. Please read the materials included with the registration packet. Complete and return any additional forms requested as soon as possible to indicate your interest in attending and reserve your spot.
- If you are accepted, you must submit a completed physical form by August 2, 2021.
Self-Sponsorship: $900
If you do not wish to apply for or are not awarded a sponsorship, you may still be able to enroll by paying the full cost for the workshop.

- A $100 deposit with your application payable to AWLS is due and required to hold your sport. The $800 balance is due and payable to SCI Foundation by June 1, 2021. If you cancel by June 1, your deposit may be refunded.
- Deposits will be refunded if notice of cancellation is received in the Tucson office prior to June 1, 2021. After that refunds cannot be issued, but deposits may be transferred to a substitute participant.
- Space is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Travel Notes
You are responsible for your own travel arrangements. Flights into and out of Jackson Hole are very limited, so please make reservations early.
- Arrival: The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. on Day 1 of the workshop. If you are flying, please schedule your arrival to the Jackson airport before 4:00 p.m. AWLS shuttles are scheduled for airport pick-ups only.
- Departure: An AWLS shuttle will return airline passengers only to the airport on the morning of Day 8. Please schedule your flight based upon a 9 a.m. departure from AWLS. The AWLS campus is about an hour from the Jackson Airport, so take that into consideration.
- Hub Cities: Flights to hub cities in the area (such as Salt Lake City, UT; Billings, MT; Idaho Falls, ID) are sometimes less expensive. Salt Lake City and Idaho Falls have shuttle service to Jackson.
- Driving: If you are driving to AWLS, please schedule your arrival between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. on Day 1 of the workshop.
- No Early or Late Accommodations: Due to AWLS facility scheduling, lodging is ONLY available beginning on Day 1 and ending on the morning of Day 8. Meals begin on Day 1 with supper. Meals end the morning of Day 8 with a continental breakfast before departure.
- Vehicle Rental Return: Please contact the Tucson office prior to returning your vehicle to arrange transportation.
- No Outside Guests: Due to the schedule and facilities, no outside guests are allowed during AWLS.
